Tango for Absolute Beginners Series Classes

Wednesdays 7:30 – 8:30 PM at The Honolulu Club, 932 Ward Avenue
New 4-week sessions starts on the first Wednesday of every month- see updates below

  • Absolute Beginner Series classes begin on the first Wednesday of each month
  • 4-week progressive session, starting on the first week recommended
  • $45+tax/person per month of Wednesdays – four weeks or five weeks – same price. No need to pre-register – just show up. Sign in at the 7th floor desk
  • The 1-hour class includes the two-hour Practica following the class. Stay as long as you like, meet and dance with the others in the tango community.
  • Not sure about the entire month? Drop in for $15 (first two weeks only)
  • Students of two years experience or more can attend free with practica fee
  • Every 5th Wednesdays, 3-hour guided practica to practice what you’ve learned in four weeks of class – come and practice what you’ve learned.
  • No partner needed, singles welcome – 5-hour validated parking
  • Open to the public; Honolulu Club membership not required (Google Maps)

8:30pm-10:30pm – IslaTango Practica

Paso Challenge – Sometimes, we demo a short step sequence of advanced material. We show it three times…the challenge is for you is to master it! The figure can be videotaped and e-mailed to the participants. Elegant figures and a good brain teaser.
Practica fee: $8+tax/person – or free with class

6:30-7:30pm: All Levels Tango Class
We show you various common sequences and the technique to execute them. Boleos- how to apply, Sacadas- when and where, Molinetes- various forms and timing, Ganchos- using balance and timing, Off-Axis Movements made easy.
$15 drop-in or $10 Tangobucks* includes practica

Special Topics Intermediate/Advanced Argentine Tango Classes

Saturdays
7:30pm – 8:30pm
Studio 1 (check in at 7th floor desk)

  • Prerequisite – One year of tango experience or equivalent
  • If you are comfortable dancing tango socially, you can do this class
  • Emphasis on Connection, Technique, Dynamics and Musicality
  • 5-hour validated parking in the building. Take elevator to 7th floor
  • No partner needed, singles welcome, drop ins welcome
  • Open to the public; Honolulu Club membership not required (Google Maps)
  • This class does not run during Tango Bootcamps
